Venting a structure is as important as putting water on the fire.  Releasing smoke and super heated toxic gases from the building helps the firefighters extinguish the fire and increases a victim’s chances of survival.  Done in a tactical and timely manner, ventilation ensures the safety of firefighters and avoids the potential of a back draft disaster.
